OPPO, AlpsenTek, And Qualcomm Collaborate To Enhance Hybrid Vision Sensing For Smartphones
OPPO, AlpsenTek and Qualcomm Technologies announced last Friday that they have partnered to develop innovative hybrid vision sensing (HVS) technology to better extract valuable motion and image data to improve the quality of image for mobile applications.
OPPO and AlpsenTek pioneered the use of hybrid vision sensing technology, developing a data processing chain to collect important camera information to improve image quality and blur , improve resolution and slow motion reconstruction, as well as other important functions. For understanding machines. This is done using Qualcomm Technologies' Snapdragon® mobile platforms.
AlpsenTek introduced Hybrid Vision Sensing (HVS) technology in 2019, combining event-based visual sensing (EVS) with conventional CIS technology, the ALPIX® sensor. It offers the best of both worlds, obtaining the high-fidelity motion data needed for photography and computer vision at a fraction of the cost.
The ALPIX® sensor provides a practical and cost-effective algorithmic solution for capturing images with integrated motion data, providing high-resolution RGB images with a simultaneous EVS data stream.
HVS retains the advantages of traditional CMOS image sensors for image rendering and detail display. At the same time, by adding an event data channel, it can avoid problems such as excessive data collection and high resource consumption, and can better adapt to low-light environments for motion data. All of these benefits are achieved without the cost, system complexity and need to record images.
Judd Heape Vice President, Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc
The HVS solution significantly enhances smartphone camera capabilities through hardware and algorithm support. We're excited to help power this new technology across our Snapdragon platforms to help consumers get the most out of their smartphone cameras and capture what matters most to them.
Jian Deng, founder and CEO of AlpsenTek
Visual sensors should now provide additional information such as distance, spectrum and motion in addition to 2D color information. Together with OPPO, we designed the ALPIX-Eiger® to integrate seamlessly with mobile applications and worked with Qualcomm Technologies to optimize it on Snapdragon. EVS offers image quality comparable to leading mobile sensors with additional features. The development of this technology, from the initial design phase to actual production, is very exciting.
Image Product Director, OPPO, Xuan ZHANG
We are confident in the potential of HVS technology and are investing time and effort to improve it by collaborating with partners in chip design and algorithms.
