Nightclub Pals Tribute To Music Lover 'Skinny' Who Was Never Without His Earphones

Friends of an East Kilbride man who took his own life have paid tribute to the young music lover.

Paisley nightclub hosted a DJ night for Ross McPherson who passed away earlier this year.

The Paisley Daily Express reports that the "subtle" 22-year-old is rarely seen without those headphones and was a regular at Club 69's techno nights, so his friends in the music scene know him well.

The club teamed up with music promoter Maximum Control to welcome some of their closest friends to the club for a night of music and raise £1,500 for the mental health charity.

DJs A-05, Daz, Fiisher, B2B, Sikoti and Kinnone were the stars.

Kieran Eddy, from PR firm No Mean City, which promoted the event, said: "Ross was a frequent clubber and was close friends with local DJs and big name people. Ross loved music, you never see that without headphones.

"He enjoyed going out with his friends, but was unable to make any new friends while there. His friends saw fit to remember Ross as he brought joy to consciousness. Youth Mental Health.

"We wanted to come together to remember Ross, raise awareness and money to help other people struggling with similar mental health issues. It was a great night for a good cause and atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Scotland."

All proceeds from the event will go to the Adored East Kilbride charity.

Club 69 has long focused on raising awareness for mental health charities and support groups for young customers.

The New Sneddon Street venue has opened its doors to Renfrewshire's Kickin' On, a mental health support group founded by David McKenna, who lost his best friend to suicide. Since then, the group has developed its own mental health and addictions center, offering music, art and cooking classes.
