Ryuichi Sakamoto, Composer And Electronic Music Pioneer, Has Died At 71
Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto died at the age of 71. Sakamoto's management confirmed his death in a statement on social media. He died on Tuesday the 28th. He is being treated for colon cancer since 2020.

A month after its release, in November 1978, Sakamoto and his contemporaries in the Tokyo music scene, Harumi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi, released their first album, Yellow Magic Orchestra.
YMO's work, as well as the solo releases of Sakamoto, Hosono, and Takahashi, have greatly influenced the development of electronic pop music. Over the next five years, YMO released seminal albums by Solid State Survivor, BGM and Naughty Boys , as well as successful European and American tours.
The band's innovative use of synthesizers, samplers and sequencers was well received by Japanese audiences, and several of their albums, including the 1980s live album Public Pressure , sold 250,000 within two weeks of its release in the band's homeland. . . release
