The BMW M3 Competition xDrive accelerates significantly faster than expected

If you've read or seen reviews of the current BMW M3 Competition xDrive, you know that it's much better than its predecessor, offering improved dynamics and a more versatile car for the driver. It's also very fast.
BMW's spec sheet shows the 2023 M3 Competition xDrive powered by a 503-horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine. and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm) of torque at 2,750 rpm. Those are impressive numbers, but they're to be expected from today's performance-oriented sedans. What really amazes us is how quickly the car jumped off the assembly line during car and driver testing.
In fact, with that grunt sent through BMW's excellent xDrive system and Launch Control enabled, the Prism managed 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 2.8 seconds. While this number doesn't include the 0.2 second leg width (according to the log), it's actually 3.0 seconds. The M3 Competition xDrive also sprinted to 100 mph in 7.0 seconds, the quarter mile in 11.0 seconds, 124 mph (200 km/h), and a top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h). 12.3 seconds and 150 mph (241 km/h) reached in 18.2 seconds; All results listed here do not include 1 foot width.

Car and Driver also tuned the M3's speed from 5 to 60 mph. I posted a best time of 4.2 seconds, which shows how capable the launch control system is.
The particular model tested by Car and Driver was a 50-year-old model that was launched last year. Only 500 examples of the special model will be built for customers in the US and Canada. It can be painted in Cinnabar Red, Techno Violet, Deep Interlagos Blue, Fire Orange III and Limerock Grey. It also gets standard M Sport seats, unique lettering and badging, and a factory license plate on the center console.
