Infinix Launches 260W Fast Wired And A Crazy 110W Fast Wireless Technology
Companies are announcing new fast charging technologies left and right, and it looks like Infinix doesn't want to be left out of the fun. Today, the company introduced its new FastCharge technology, which offers an incredibly fast 260W wired charging and an excellent 110W wireless charging solution.
We've recently talked about why Google, Samsung and Apple need to step up their charging game, as well as what fast charging means and why it's useful.
Infinix's new charging solution is faster than some other OEM charging technologies, but it lags behind Xiaomi's recently introduced 300W fast charging solution. However, Infinix says it can charge the device from 1 to 100% in just 7.5 minutes with its versatile FastCharge 260 W technology. The company says the phone can charge from zero to 25% in just one minute.
If that wasn't enough, there's also the new Wireless FastCharge 110W technology. It beats HONOR's Magic4 Pro by 10W and can charge wirelessly at 100W. Infinix says its wireless charging solution can charge the phone up to 100% in just 16 minutes. which is faster than most wired solutions available today, and the fastest wireless charging technology we've seen to date.
Infinix says the new charging architecture uses an "intelligent four-pump circuit design" that identifies power requirements and determines the number of charging pumps needed for operation. The company also uses an improved high-speed 12 4400 mAh capacity battery with a multi-electrode coating structure to ensure an efficiency of up to 98.5%. Infinix's press release claims that the battery retains more than 90% of its capacity after 1000 cycles. For reference, the European Union requires device manufacturers to reach 80% of rated capacity after 1,000 charge cycles.
As for the charger, Infinix uses GaN PFC (Power Factor Correction) + AHB (Advanced Hybrid Batteries) material with high energy density, small size and safe charging control. The cable also uses an Emarker chip that can handle up to 13A of current, providing a charging speed of 260W.
The wireless charging coil uses specially designed small, sensitive coils that "pack fewer coils and more coils into the same space as conventional models." Infinix says its wireless charging solution reduces the phone's temperature and increases maximum capacity, improving the efficiency of the charging process.
New wired and wireless charging solutions are compatible and support reverse, bypass and multi-protocol charging. In addition, it is compatible with other protocols such as Power Delivery 3.0. Infinix has confirmed that its new technology will be introduced in the upcoming Infinix Note series of devices this year.
As more and more companies enter the race for faster charging solutions, we will see more competition and faster charging technology. However, it's worth noting that while I'm excited to see faster charging technology, I'd like to see some advancements and innovations in the battery department.
Every few months we hear about a new battery and a company working on the technology, but we haven't seen any innovation in this area for decades. While research and development departments are under constant pressure to push the boundaries, the next generation of battery technology that can be mass-produced at affordable prices is likely many years away.
As the technology around us evolves and improves, so do our needs and requirements. I'm excited to experiment with new wired and wireless charging technologies, but hopefully we'll see big improvements to the batteries we've relied on for years.
