Infinix Zero 20 Review: One For The Selfie Lovers
Infinix Zero 20 has just launched in the Indian market with a starting price of Rs 15,999. One of the notable features is that this device is marketed as the first selfie camera with 60MP OIS. But is this the only useful feature of the Zero 20 or is there more to it than meets the eye? Let's find out in this in-depth smartphone review.
accuse
Being a budget smartphone, the Infinix Zero 20 does a lot of things right. It's perfect for selfies, has a solid design, a bright display and acceptable performance. Its low-light capabilities are perhaps a little lacking, and its user interface isn't the cleanest in this segment. However, if these issues don't affect your purchase decision, the Zero 20 should be a good buy.
fall deep
The Zero 20 looks elegant with its flat, rectangular, slab-like design. The phone's dark matte finish is paired with a shiny silver rail and raised camera body. As usual, the USB Type-C port and speaker grill are on the bottom, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack. After holding the phone for a while I found it to be well balanced, solid and elegantly finished. In short, the Zero 20 should be at the top of your list if you're into elegant looks.
As for the display, the device sports a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz. There's an old-fashioned waterdrop-shaped notch at the top that houses the 8-inch selfie camera. 60 megapixels with OIS that can be used and the bezels around the bezel are also not too thin. In any case, the overall viewing experience offered by this device is quite good. I liked the colors and brightness levels, although there is occasionally a bluish tinge when tilting the screen. The panel also lacks HDR functionality, as OTT content is limited to HD only via WideVine L1 certification. I also noticed that the 90Hz refresh rate stuttered a bit in heavy apps like YouTube and Facebook.
Now for the camera setup, the main sensor is a 108 megapixel sensor supported by 13 megapixel and 2 megapixel ultra wide angle macro sensors. The 60MP OIS selfie camera is the mainstay of this device, and I've tested it in a variety of lighting conditions. If you click on the default 15MP photos, the 60MP full resolution mode can be activated with a single click. The captured image is actually quite saturated and shows a lot of facial details. It also calibrates the exposure behind my face well, and thanks to OIS I can still take sharp photos when my hands are a little shaky.
In terms of battery life, the device has a 4500mAh cell which can be fast charged at 44W. In the PCMark battery test, the device managed 10 hours which is pretty average for a budget phone. During my usage, I got about five hours of screen time with no heavy games. The phone can be charged up to 100% in about an hour, with a 50% charge taking just 20 minutes.
Final decision
For its Rs 15,999 price tag, the Infinix Zero 20 offers a decent smartphone experience. Apart from some glitches in night photography and software, there's nothing to complain about. Performance levels are optimal for typical use cases, such as the case with 8GB of RAM. And yes, selfie lovers will definitely enjoy this device
