Unfortunately, on the morning of January 1, another musical icon passed away: Anita Pointer, lead singer of the Pointer Sisters. TMZ reports that the "I'm So Excited" singer died at home surrounded by family after a battle with cancer. He was 74 years old.
Pointer and her sisters Bonnie Pointer, June Pointer and Ruth Pointer formed the pop group in the late 1960s and had success in the 1970s with the hits Jump, Slow Hand and He's So Shy.
