YouTube has revealed its best videos of 2022.

According to calculations by social media management platform Hootsuite, YouTube receives 1.7 billion unique visitors each month. The page also gets a total of 14.3 billion views a month, more than Facebook, Instagram, Amazon and Wikipedia.

Much of this traffic comes from the US, and data collected by Statista shows that 62% of US users visit YouTube every day. As 2022 draws to a close, it's time to catch up on what we've all been hearing about the video streaming site for the past 12 months.

All data aggregated in the list is based on national views of video uploads in 2021 and excludes short films, music videos, trailers and children's videos. To get the bigger picture of what people are watching, one video per creator is selected.

The strike, the Super Bowl and Stranger Things

Unsurprisingly, Will Smith's infamous punch at comedian Chris Rock tops the list for the 2022 Academy Awards, as The Guardians shared uncensored footage of the incident, including F-videos.

Other pop culture highlights on the list include Dr. Dre's Super Bowl LVI halftime show alongside Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent finished fourth on the countdown.

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown also made the top 10 with her spicy looks when she ate spicy wings together with Shawn Evans in First We Feast .

MrBeast and Try Guys

However, the creators of YouTube have mastered the countdown. MrBeast finished fifth with his video "I Built Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory" and was ranked the top YouTuber in America with 118 million subscribers.

Co-creator Dream, on the other hand, is in third place on the list thanks to the video "Hi, I'm Dream" in which he finally reveals his true identity. The Try Guys also made it to #9 with their video announcing they have cut ties with former member Ned Fulmer.

Elsewhere, Mark Robert takes sixth place thanks to his latest glittering payouts for prank calls, and we have to give particular mention to NichLmao, who was named Breakout Creator of the Year for 2022 after amassing over 18.7 million subscribers.

Technoblade says goodbye

The year probably belongs to YouTuber Technoblade, better known as Alexander, who sadly passed away from metastatic sarcoma in June of this year at the age of 23.

Affectionately known for his Minecraft videos and livestreams, Technoblade hit the top trending list in the US with a clip hosted by his father, which shows the darling YouTuber greeting his fans after playing together for about 30 minutes.

At the time of writing, the video for "So long nerds" has been viewed 87 million times.
