Xiaomi Redmi A1+ Review: Budget Phone With Fingerprint Sensor

November 9 - Redmi, a subsidiary of Chinese electronics company Xiaomi, was first introduced in July 2013 as a line of budget smartphones. In 2019, it was split into the Xiaomi sub-brand to produce mid-range smartphones and entry-level devices. The A1+ will debut with the entry-level Redmi "A" series in September 2022. Let's take a look at the specifications, advantages and limitations of the Redmi A1+.

Key Features of Xiaomi Redmi A1+

Design and Features

The Xiaomi Redmi A1+ retains the dimensions of 164.9 x 76.8 x 9.1 mm or 6.49 x 3.02 x 0.36 inches. Its weight is 192 gr. and have two sim cards. It has speakers and a 3.5 mm jack. Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, hotspots, etc. such as WLAN communication. they are there too. Compatible with Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC. There are GPS in addition to A-GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS and BDS.

There is a fingerprint scanner at the top center of the back of the phone. This is probably the first smartphone in the international market with a fingerprint sensor. The back of the phone is made of high quality plastic. It has a leather texture which gives it a very elegant look. It also has a dual camera on the back with a flash in the top left corner of the phone.

There are three color options available for the Redmi A1: Light Green, Dark Black and Blue. For the purposes of this review, we went with the light green color option and found that the natural color worked well with the simple design of the smartphone.

Showing

The 6.52-inch IPS display on the front of the device offers a 60Hz refresh rate and HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. The display has a touch sampling rate of 120 Hz, a screen brightness of 400 nits and a tempered glass to protect the screen. There's also a cutout for the 5-megapixel selfie camera on the front of the device. This phone does not have a fingerprint scanner.

The screen is pretty good if you want to use it to watch SD videos. The screen has a ceiling that reaches quite early and you can't do much after that. The results were as expected from a budget smartphone when we watched videos on YouTube, Netflix and Hotstar. Not very unique, but good for the price.

In addition, the screen is capable of reaching a maximum brightness of 400 nits and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. While the sense of motion is satisfactory, the tactile excitability is greatly enhanced. You may need to spend some time configuring your phone to fix this problem.

camera

The Redmi A1 Plus camera is more focused on getting the job done than surprising users with its quality or features. In good lighting conditions, the 8-megapixel main sensor on the back of the device produces images of satisfactory quality. It even does a respectable job with portrait photos (the extra 0.3MP camera on the back helps).

If you don't like these high-end colors and details, you won't be disappointed. In exchange, you'll get images that are beautiful enough to post on social media and send via email and text.

While there is a useful frame-by-frame mode, videos are best suited for sharing on social media. If there is not enough light, still or moving images will be of poor quality.

While the 5MP front camera's color reproduction isn't completely up to par, taking selfies in well-lit areas will make for share-worthy photos. This is not a camera for serious photographers; on the contrary, it is a striking model in the traditional sense. If you take sufficient precautions, you should be able to get acceptable results. Maybe too much.

Performance and equipment

Redmi A1 Plus is powered by the MediaTek MT6761 Helio A22 chipset. The performance of this processor is satisfactory when surfing the Internet, making video calls, using navigation, and many other activities. 32 gigabytes (GB) of disk space and 3 GB of RAM are provided.

The Redmi A1 Plus runs Android 12 GO, an operating system developed by Google specifically for use in low-cost smartphones. This is one of the important points that can be drawn from this review. Apart from this OS, you will not find much evidence of MIUI. The user interface is quite clean and there is no bloatware on the phone except for Facebook Lite.

We tested the smartphone's GPU or GPU while playing light games like Subway Surfers, Candy Crush, and Clash Royale. The phone has a PowerVR GE8320 GPU.

After being satisfied with the overall performance of the smartphone, we turned on Garena Free Fire Max and started playing. Despite some lags, the phone does a great job of delivering a great gaming experience.

battery and charger

Redmi A1 Plus is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery. The battery life is quite long because it is integrated with the main hardware and operating system of the phone.

The smartphone battery easily lasts two days with moderate use, which includes sending and receiving WhatsApp messages, browsing the web, listening to music, taking photos and browsing content for about two hours each day. If you use the backup power system more sparingly, you should have no problem getting to three days.

The smartphone can be fully charged in under three hours using a 10W charger.

Redmi A1+ price in Indonesia

Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus has not been officially released in Bangladesh. The price of the phone in the Indian market is INR 7499 or INR 9253. Here the exchange rate is 1 Indian rupee = 1.23 Indian dollars. However, the official price of Redmi A1+ in Bangladesh is subject to change due to taxes and other factors.

RESULTS

The manufacturer has included in this phone all the essential features that consumers expect to see in a smartphone at an affordable price without compromising on the overall performance of the device. Some features, such as wide chin and bezel, as well as VGA camera on the back, can be improved for a better experience.

Overall, the Redmi A1+ offers a standard budget experience. Those switching from a regular phone might want to consider the Xiaomi Redmi A1+.
