My Top 15 Albums Of 2023
I haven't listened to music in over a month. is correct. Sounds strange for a music journalist, doesn't it? I assure you, it is not by choice.
On July 1st, I fell and suffered a brain injury that the neurologist said could kill me. Don't worry though. However, I was able to fully recover at high speed. However, it was one of the hardest times of my life.
It took a lot out of me and music was one of the hardest things. I can't listen to music. I couldn't go to the concert. I really like both things. It was heartbreaking.
This music helps me through the ups and downs of my life. It always is for me. Without it, I'm lost. Fortunately, I found it more than a month after the accident. It was like always for me.
I've never been more grateful to listen to my favorite songs and discover new records. Unfortunately, I have to wait about four months before I can dance in concert again. My first gig was Fred Again... at Forest Hills Stadium. I was on the verge of tears all day, not only because the music touched me so much, but also because I was so excited to be performing live again.
I always knew that music was important to me, but I never realized it until it was taken away from me. Recovering from a traumatic brain injury was one of the saddest periods of my life, not only because I couldn't listen to music, but also because I couldn't read, watch TV, write, and go out to restaurants and bars. . , he went out with friends. Because of the great stimulation it creates, I text loved ones, talk to loved ones on the phone, etc. But after I was able to listen to music again, everything was fine. I may have lost many of my simple pleasures, but at least I had music.
Here I share with you the albums and songs I found in 2023. These records have been the soundtrack to the good and bad times of my life. I also write about my new favorites, the ones I already know. . I hope this list makes a difference in your world, no matter how you feel.
And always remember: don't take music for granted. It is the simple joy of life and one of the most complex things created by man. It is not easy to combine many instruments and sounds to create beauty. The easy part is admiring her and savoring her glory.
There is a lot of good music. All you have to do is listen.
Overmono is a good lie
There are so many things I want to do differently this year. A person hopes to quickly find a good lie .
As soon as I heard the first song, I knew that this album would be in my heart. Wow. In this case, of course. Music lovers will experience experimental sounds, smooth, shimmering synths, whimsical melodies, atmospherics, catchy lyrics, melodic melodies, heaven and a sense of longing, nostalgia and pure joy when listening. The LP perfectly combines dance moments with the songs you love at home. In fact, Good Lies turns out to be a strange and brilliantly produced album.
Mesa - There are no rules
In practice. Here's what I heard about this EP in 2023.
The four-track set features powerful, upbeat, deep bass lines, bard and drag queen samples, funky and swing synths, catchy leads and a nod to dancehall culture, the weird underground subculture where people marched, competed and danced in the late 20th century. , dance, lip sync and choreography in various categories. In an earlier interview with Forbes , Mega said the EP's title is based on his "fk a genre" philosophy that has allowed him to explore and express different styles of music throughout his illustrious career.
LP GOB - Bright Place
LP Giovbi surprised with the first album Places of Light . The long track features catchy piano, chimes, catchy lyrics, upbeat vocals, booming and punchy bass, soothing vocals and more. The entire body of work is a dichotomy in sound, with some tracks nostalgic and others dancefloor ready.
In an earlier Forbes LP interview, Giobbi said the album's title was a reference to the Grateful Dead's "Scarlet Begonias" "Every once in a while there's a light where you see the strangest things, that's normal." LP GOB's mother and father are self-proclaimed "Dead Heads", meaning they are fans of the group. She added that her father loved the famous group's lyrics and the philosophy he taught her. And brother to live.
Fred Again... and Brian Eno - The Secret Life
When I was finally able to listen to music after my head injury, I continued to play Secret Life . The sound structure of the album was amazing to me. It didn't cause a headache. Although I love techno, radiator, and bass music, these genres tend to be good choices for brain injury recovery.
What drew me to Secret Life more than any other record at the time was how perfectly my emotions were captured in the music. The haunting atmosphere of the record matches my mood, with haunting piano tones, hazy tones, slow acoustic guitars, slow vocals and a static soundscape. While this album is good for tears, it's also worth a listen if you're feeling otherwise. Regardless of how you feel, Fred Encore and Brian Eno's collaborative album turned out to be stunning.
Skrillex - Finding Fire
In 2023, Skrillex released Firefighter . Not only did the album bring joy, but this year he made his ultimate comeback: once again forming a great trio with Fred, he took the dance music world by storm for several weeks. Her second single, a surprise LP, was called "Don't Reach. Close ", and although it was less popular, she wore a stunning new look, ditching the glasses and famous long hair. 2023 has definitely been a good year for Skrillex.
This could be his biggest hit of the year for Search for Fire as he reminds people why he is considered an icon of the scene. Throughout the 15-track collection, music lovers can hear a variety of styles, from playful basslines to crisp Missy Elliott rap lines, deep swing bass lines, high notes, synths and heavenly vocals. Regardless of the style, there's no denying that this is a Skrillex song that showcases his ability to cross genres while always maintaining the signature sound that made him famous years ago.
Jayda G is a guy
Canadian producer and DJ Zayda G is known for enthralling audiences around the world with her house music creations. The recording artist was nominated for Best Electronic Dance Recording at the 63rd Grammy Awards for his song "The Two of Us." It is not surprising that Gaye surprised again with his third album.
Jayda Jay talks about the grief and recovery of her father, William Richard Jay, who died when she was 10 years old. He originally sketched the song from his father's diary and 11 hours of footage documenting his life. . On the record, she performs as a soloist more often than ever. He explores the archive with his producers, using powerful lead lines and melodies created for dancefloor, soul and disco.
Scream - Scream 8
The record captivated audiophiles with every sound, as seen on "The Track Flute". Angelic and soulful highlights, fun beats, catchy bass, beautiful and heavenly vocals, grainy vocals, do-it-yourself beats, and listeners are listening. The record was inspired by Skreamizm's last release 10 years ago, when he was trending, and included his final moments, such as during the pandemic and when his best friends died. In a previous interview with Forbes magazine , the artist said that this album was the first time he "felt truly satisfied" with the work.
Close - small worlds
It all starts with swing synths, trembling vocals, dramatic compositions, experimental rhythms, swing basses and spinning beats. Following the album's opening track of the same name, there are 11 more songs that dip into different sonic atmospheres but remain completely cohesive. The sixth track, which marks the middle of the longer piece, is "Meditation", which features piano, otherworldly synths and slow bass. Closes the microworlds of "Odyssey", where we hear natural soundscapes, piano, synthesized vocals, noise, wobbly bass and irregular synthesizers. The wardrobe definitely shows off its prowess in small worlds.

Distressed and Confused tracks recorded between 2016 and 2021, all exported WAV files. The surprise mix includes a wide range of different dance music sounds. You can hear synthesized leads, punchy bass lines, powerful soundscapes, sampled synths, ambient beats, static vocals, futuristic bass, distorted vocals and more. Kaytranada is a lover/friend
The two-disc set contains four tracks, two of which are original and two are instrumental. The first is "Lover/Friend," which captivates listeners with soaring vocals, soaring synths, Rachel Jordan's smooth vocals, and beautiful bass. Another key track, "Stuntin'," brings seductive vocals, Chanel Trace's velvet vocals, and a silky production.
The instrumental repetition of two separate tracks with no baselines highlights the vocals that drive each entry. Lover/Friend is Kaytranada's masterpiece that won the BUBBA for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. "10%" previously won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording with Kali Uchis.

Blessed Madonna, Joey Anonymous and Daniel Ponder - Carry Me
Blessed Madonna collaborates with Daniel Ponder on Joey Anonymous and Lift Me Up . The five-track EP features two tracks: "Hold Me Up" and "Something Doesn't Feel Right". The former offers three different variations: "Elite Mix (10" Version), "Demo" and "7" Version, while the latter has two, one with the same name as the song and another called "Demo".
Singer and former US Attorney Daniel Ponder's vocals can be heard on all versions of "Carry Me Higher", but all three differ in sound design. "Elite Mix" (10" version) uses organic instruments, bass and house music. "Showcase" features acoustic guitar and rowing vocals, while the track "7" Edition is similar to "Elite 10", but shorter.
"Something Doesn't Feel Right" takes center stage with intense drums and an emotional lead. Conversely, the repetition of "Experimental" highlights the piano and slow vocals.
Of course, all the variations of the two songs are different and amazing.
Matimi - note
The 14-track album features hot techno, upbeat beats, dark yet romantic sounds, cinematic melodies, dark and light reverb. These words are very similar to the dynamics of the project: Amamea Giovenli, one half of Matamo, is more reserved and caring, while the other member Matteo Giovenli looks young and optimistic.
At the beginning of the interview with Forbes , Matimi said that the memoir was written during a trip around the world. The adventures of the siblings began in Mykonos when they left their Italian city, affected by the Corona virus. The theme of hope and disappointment is presented on the record.
Lastlings are a perfect world
The 12-track work spans art, heritage and design. This beautiful LP welcomes music lovers with mantras, heavenly lyrics, classical piano, cinematic performances and dreamy melodies. This relates to Lustling's music-making philosophy, as it tries to create moments of escape that allow the audience to explore other aspects and use their imaginations, one half of the project, Amy Dowdall, said in a previous interview with Forbes .
Quan's voice is guided by the ancient light
Koan Sound continues to represent the future of modern dance music, and they're doing it with classic LED light . Sonali, the entire work takes the audience on a journey, the chaos of "Embars from Caes" begins before "Solus of the Red Giant" ends, a song that evokes a sense of nostalgia yet peace. This jam of tunes really showcases the production skills of this sonic renegade project. Fans will hear some audio in the opening and closing tracks that complete the circle of how to destroy them. This is done through the slow transition of the music, starting with heavy, restrained words and ending with an angelic rhythm.
LPT is produced using organic instruments such as piano and cello. For the first time, these instruments were combined with Coan Sound's electronic sound design and sci-fi elements to create a 13-track record.
