Samsung Refreshes The Galaxy SmartTag's Design And Doubles The Battery Life
  • The Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag has replaced the old perforated design with a new ring-shaped design for more durability.

  • Unlike the previous model, the Galaxy Smart Tag 2 comes in a single model that supports Bluetooth and Ultra Broadband connectivity.

  • SmartTag 2 has an improved battery that can last up to 700 days in power saving mode and up to 500 days in normal mode.

Samsung announced that it plans to launch an updated version of its Galaxy SmartTag smart tracking device on October 10 at retailers and telecommunications companies in addition to its official store.

There is no price increase for the Galaxy SmartTag 2, which means you can buy it from Samsung's official store, retailers and carriers for $30. However, unlike the first-gen model, it has a completely new look that ditches the perforated design in favor of a ring-shaped appearance.

Samsung also has a longer battery life for the second-generation Galaxy Smart Tag, extending to 700 days in power-saving mode or 500 days in normal mode. According to Samsung, this is more than double the battery life of the previous model released in 2021.

In addition to battery improvements, the new Smart Tracker offers new features to make it easier to find lost items. For example, Lost Mode lets you add your contact information to a message so that anyone who finds it can verify the account and find out how to contact you. To protect your privacy, you can turn off incognito mode to hide your contact information.

Unlike the previous version, the new Galaxy Smart Tag combines Bluetooth and Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology in one package. As always, you can add the tracker to your keys or anything else you've lost through the app. With UWB, you can find lost items even if they are hidden behind something like your couch cushions.

The UWB function also allows you to use the smart tag to tell you where your lost items are with visual guidance on your mobile phone screen. You can also use the tracker to control your smart home devices, like lights and thermostats, using the SmartThings app.

Plus, the Galaxy Smart Tag 2 is now tougher than ever with an IP67 water and dust resistance rating. This means you can keep track of your items even in the harshest environments.

However, unlike other top Bluetooth trackers like Tile, the Galaxy Smart Tag 2 is only compatible with Samsung phones. This has been a limitation since the first generation of SmartTag, and it doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon.
