I'm thrilled with what Samsung SmartThings can do for the home. And I'm not talking about state-of-the-art apartments filled with tightly connected devices and smart gadgets - every family can use this incredible ecosystem to connect their devices and simplify their lives.

Samsung SmartThings is one of the largest open ecosystems for managing smart home devices. It has over 150 million users worldwide, is available for Android and iOS, and is compatible with voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The SmartThings app can be viewed on your phone or tablet or displayed on your Samsung SmartThing fridge via phone-to-device screen mirroring. Either way, the SmartThings app is a gateway that allows all your gadgets and devices to communicate with each other - and you don't need to have a house full of Samsung devices to take advantage of its capabilities.

Samsung's smart washing machines, smart fridges, smart ovens and smart robot vacuums are all controlled through the SmartThings app. SmartThings also works with all phone brands and is compatible with thousands of smart devices from brands like Amazon, Google, Philips Hue and Ring.

It can also connect to some of the best video doorbells and speakers and create spectacular light shows with the best smart lights, even to match your on-screen entertainment.

And network devices can't just cook or wash.

Your Samsung oven can cook meals based on the ingredients you have or want to eat, and the app will compare prices to make sure you can save money on ingredients in your bag. When the user selects "Oven Recipe" from the menu, the oven automatically adjusts the cooking temperature and time, which means that if you (or someone in the house) don't want to be the "cook" to at night, the oven can do most of the shopping work for you.

And then we have the Samsung SmartThings washing machine. It can run smart wash cycles depending on what you want to wash. The machine will suggest the best wash based on the information you provide.

The washing machine contains enough detergent for 16-18 washes, so constantly refilling the detergent drawer will be a thing of the past. No less impressive is the 20-year warranty on the machine's digital inverter motor. The motors are designed to run quieter and more efficiently than conventional motors, making them ideal for outdoor spaces.

Speaking of large items, I would like to mention Samsung's HomeCare Assistant to help you take care of your device. It's available through SmartThings, and you can get push notifications about your oven, washing machine, or dishwasher, among others, to keep them running at their best.

The SmartThings app makes it easy to control your device, big or small. You can scan a QR code or enter a setup code or scan nearby devices by brand. You may need to sign in to a communication device (such as an Amazon Echo Dot) and then sign in to another third-party app.

If you want to start building a connected home, I think the Samsung SmartThings ecosystem is a great way to go. With Matter 1.0 connectivity level, it's ready for the future and all the products you need (no pun intended) are available. What's not to like?
