EDM Producer Freekill Has Died
Frequill, the French DJ and electronic music producer with an amazing, powerful sound, has passed away. French dance music site Gutetape has confirmed that Facebook-liked EDM producer Cillian Modest, real name, died in August. Freckle's cause of death has not been released, but the website said the producer had been suffering from a "long illness."
According to EDM.com, Freekill's music career began in 2010. In 2016, he re-released Kiara's international pop single "Gold". The following year he released many songs and 2019 was one of the most successful years in his career. That year, the French classic released not only "DTL (Drop That Low)" but also "Bomb" on popular dance label Spinnin' Records. Signed by the Yellow Claw Barong family, the track was later adopted by Skrillex, Major Lazer and RL Grime among other dance music stars.
Many of Freekill's classmates responded to the news of his death by exchanging greetings online. In the year DJ Snake, who DJed at Freekill for his hometown show in Paris in 2020, tweeted: “This guy really hurt me. I lost my friend the room he entered...rest in peace." Fight CLVB wrote, "I can't believe I'm writing this but we're at a loss for words. Freekill was not only a great producer, but also a DJ and a good friend. When we break up, he decides to move on and your French brother rests in power.
Many fans also expressed their condolences. One fan wrote online: "Rest in peace, kill free. An inspiration to many, including myself. May your legacy live on." Another said: "When I started DJing, Freckles were a staple in all my bands, I used their songs a lot in commercials, they were inspiring and showed that music doesn't have to be in a box," adding, "The legacy remains. Freckles in their music are immortal to me."
Freekill's death coincides with the sixth anniversary of Big Mac's death. An Orlando DJ and electronic music producer died in a 2016 car accident in Castlebury, Florida. At that time he was only 25 years old. Orlando Weekly, which reported his death at the time, reported on Big Mac as "the first innovation in the Moombatton EDM scene."
