FKA Twigs Teases Upcoming TechnoInfluenced Album: ‘Its Deep But Not Sad

Previously, the musician rejected all the materials of the project after coming to the network.

FKA Twigs made a significant change of scenery when she moved to Prague, where she found a decisive influence for her new album: Techno. In a series of Discord messages, the musician talked about the project, which will be his first since Caprisongs in 2022. "I moved to Prague a few years ago and fell in love with techno," he writes. "The album isn't techno, but it has soul."

Twigs explained the album's tone: "It's deep, but it's not sad... I'm not sad anymore." The announcement of new music, even just a teaser, is a positive change for music. He said in October that hackers had leaked dozens of his demos and he had to start over. "I got hacked, someone leaked my 85 demos," he wrote on Instagram Stories. "Well done, no new songs for a long time."

During her appearance on Discord, Twigs revealed that she is working closely with British electronic artist Coreless on a new album. Last year, she presented one of her collaborations at Paris Fashion Week. The musician added that although he didn't listen much while making his own music, he recently joined two shell duos.

As new music was released, Twigs continued to regain control of her narrative. Last week, he shared an emotional response to his Calvin Klein campaign by Britain's Advertising Standards Authority nearly a year ago. “I don't see the 'stereotypical sex object' as I've been labeled. "I see a beautiful, strong, black woman with an incredible body that has overcome more pain than you can imagine," Twiggs wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of the ad in which she appears partially nude.

“When I look at other similar organizations past and present, I can't help but feel that there is a double standard. To be clear: I'm proud of my physique and hold the art I've created to the standards of women like Josephine Baker, Artha Keith, and Grace Jones who are breaking down the barriers of what it means to be empowered and used. The spill has a unique embodied sensibility."
