Artists You Should Know: Zheani Is Knocking Down Music Barriers On Electronic Trap Project “The Spiritual Meat Grinder”
Musicians who truly push boundaries are rare, especially when the internet makes it so easy. The Australian artist, known simply as Zhang, experiments with boundaries, which comes naturally to Ginny Sparks, who enjoys music, acting and modeling. Although Zenny is an occasional rapper and trap artist, attempting to adapt his songs into hip-hop would be criminal considering his interest in other genres.
Since his debut in 2018, he has been continuously and independently releasing mixtapes and EPs over the past few years. But he's also finishing work on his first full-length album, which coincides with his first international tour, which includes a show at the Roxy in Los Angeles on March 6.
The promise made for the wildly popular “Whore of Babylon” does little to prepare you for the raucous screams that grow louder as the trap progresses. About halfway through the track, the electronic/metal scratching in the background reaches considerable octaves. However, he will soon defeat the loud and chaotic weapons and reclaim his throne.
“BRING WET CUNT” also shows off his dynamic sound, even though it is a techno dance track. “Bring Your Wet Cunt,” one of three singles from her latest project, the soulful Meat Grinder , is a great example of how often she can change her style without sacrificing her ever-evolving aesthetic. Even in the spotlight, he is ready to be a chameleon of his music and shape it for every era.
At the end of 2023, Zeni toured Australia. The fact that he is preparing for his next tour, which begins February 28 in Seattle, shows that he has no intention of abandoning or compromising his diverse and ongoing vision.
What makes his career so exciting is the way he handles the many aspects of his music while remaining independent and financing everything, including his upcoming tour. Whether it's provocative song titles or seismic sonic shifts with each project, the one thing that's guaranteed to be Zenya's next move is unexpected and unlike any other independent artist working today.
