BANGKOK, October 16, 2023 - (ACN Newswire) -
Baywire Solar Trade, the solar energy trading arm of a global renewable energy developer, service provider and distributor, started selling electric vehicle (EV) chargers in Thailand in collaboration with Huawei during ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2023.

Baywire and Huawei launched the EV charger at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok, led by Junre Castro, General Manager of Solar Business Southeast Asia and Nitinan Pultanan, Business Development Manager of Huawei Digital Power Thailand.

Sharing his views on the collaboration, Junre Castro, Director of Solar Trade in Southeast Asia, said: "As a recognized leader in the solar trade business, we are excited to work with Huawei to promote electric vehicle charging technology in Thailand We are committed to helping this country Our creation of charging stations throughout the country through partners and customers We hope that electric vehicle chargers will be easily accessible and allow people and companies to actively participate in the transition to solutions ecological transport.

Thailand's commitment to carbon neutrality and zero greenhouse gas emissions at COP26, combined with sudden uncertainty in oil and gas prices, has accelerated Thailand's electric vehicle market to new heights. In early 2022, Thailand introduced several tax-related measures to boost domestic demand for electric vehicles, including exemptions or reductions in import taxes and duties, as well as conditional subsidies for imported electric vehicles.

Thailand, as a regional auto manufacturing hub, is a major force driving the region towards an electric vehicle transition, and the country accounted for nearly 79% of all electric vehicle sales in Southeast Asia in the first quarter of 2023. Thailand targets electric vehicles for 30% of its 2.5 million annual vehicles by 2023. To support this goal, it is necessary to develop an integrated infrastructure with intelligent supply and demand management to enable the industry transition of transportation towards decarbonization.

Baywire Solar Trade promotes sustainability through world-class products and services, including logistics, warehousing and technical capabilities, as well as consulting with its growing regional customer base. With electric vehicle chargers as part of its distribution portfolio along with other solar products such as solar inverters, solar batteries, solar modules and other solar solutions, SolarTrade aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. This addition to the portfolio aims to reduce dependence on conventional energy sources and electrical grids, thus ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for future generations.

Logan Yu, President of Huawei Digital Power Thailand, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, saying: "Bewire, with its global reach, has successfully brought Huawei's technological advancements to the market by adding our leading electric vehicle charging solution to its product offering. In Thailand, customers now have access to this technology. There will be greater access, bringing a positive change to Thailand's energy landscape and contributing to Thailand's broader mission of achieving a carbon-neutral future.

Baywire Solar Trade began its Southeast Asia presence in Thailand in 2017 and expanded to the Philippines in 2019 before further expanding to Vietnam and Malaysia in the following years. They recently celebrated cumulative sales of 1 GW in Thailand by 2023.
