Y20 Summit Commences

The G20 Youth Summit, organized by the Youth Affairs Department of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, began on Thursday with a visit to the Super Computing Center and Micro-Engineering Center at the Indian Institute of Technology (Benares Hindu University). . Y20 delegates learned about how this technology can achieve its goal of transforming multiple application areas, research managers and mission-critical applications. The faculty members of the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) demonstrated how the supercomputing center has contributed to the development of scientific and technological research and development in the country.

This was followed by sessions and presentations sponsored by the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) at the Rudraksha International Cooperation and Convention Center (RICCC). The presentation began with an overview of the ever-evolving IITs (BHU) and the important role technical education plays in empowering India. In IITs (BHUs), the sessions focus more on ongoing research activities, recruitment activities, innovation, incubation and startup culture. The program also witnessed a cultural extravaganza filled with musical performances by talented students of BHU and classical dance numbers like Garba, Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Bhangra.

In the evening, delegates and participants were taken to Sarnath where they could learn more about the culture of Varanasi. A trip to Sarnath helped them experience the cultural aura of one of the world's most important Buddhist shrines. At Sarnath, the delegation visited the Archaeological Museum at the Park Mrigadayana Monastery in Sarnath displaying Buddhist cultural relics excavated from the site of Lord Buddha's "first sermon". Delegates will explore the Sarnath Museum, a collection of priceless Buddhist cultural treasures. The first day of the Y20 Summit concluded with a mesmerizing light and sound show celebrating the profound life journey of Gautama Buddha.

Within the framework of the G20 chairmanship, the Department of Youth Affairs of the Federal Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is organizing the 20-2023 Youth Summit in the city from August 17 to 20. The Y20 Summit brings together key national and international experts, decision-makers and delegates/representatives from G20 countries, host countries and international organizations to sign the Y20 Declaration based on the ideas, findings and outcomes of the various discussions. In the coming months, this Y20 Statement will set the foundation for our shared vision on five specific Y20 themes and ensure that young people's voices are heard by those who make the most important policy decisions for the inclusive development of young people around the world.
