Gateway Bronco describes the new Luxe-GT as a "reimagined" vintage Bronco. The company's aim was to design a vehicle faithful to the spirit of the 4×4 legend and adapt it to current standards. From what we've seen so far, the four years of off-road development have been well spent.

At first glance, the Luxe-GT looks like any other example of a first-generation SUV in mint condition. There are a trio of subtle differences that die-hard Bronco fans will appreciate. These include a modern LED lighting package, a revised front bumper and more prominent wheels. Meanwhile, the interior is trimmed in all-weather leather with leather accents and features modern essentials such as CarPlay display, Focal sound system and air conditioning.

The Luxe-GT may look like a classic Bronco, but it won't drive like one. In fact, its mechanical equipment is completely new. The biggest difference is under the hood. You get a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission. The current Ford F-150's engine is larger than the six-cylinder that powers the original and current Bronco. No horsepower figures are given, but Gateway Bronco claims the setup will get your 4x4 from zero to 100 mph in just 5.3 seconds, which is pretty good for any SUV, let alone one that's been around for decades.

The latest Gateway Bronco model is also built on an all-new, stiffer chassis and its body has been structurally strengthened to provide a lower center of gravity. These two changes will make the car safer and improve handling. Other new features include permanent all-wheel drive and anti-lock brakes, as well as electronic stability and traction control. Purists may not be thrilled to hear about these revisions, but it's good news for everyone.

The store is now accepting orders for the Luxe-GT through its website. Prices for the redesigned SUV start at $400,000, but with all the options the brand offers, that price can add up quickly. You may want to rush to get your order to us quickly. The shop says it will produce only 25 samples per year, and the first 12 samples have already been announced.
