Redmi Pad 2 Specs Allegedly Leak; Gets A Snapdragon Chipset, Same Battery Capacity

Last year Xiaomi launched its first Redmi branded tablet, the Redmi Pad. The company is working on a successor to this device, the Redmi Pad 2, and according to a new leak, the next tablet could be entry-level.

Reliable whistleblower Digital Chat Station has released the so-called Redmi Pad 2 specifications. If that's true, it should have a 2K LCD display with a screen size of 10-11 inches and a realistic 90Hz refresh rate. The former offered four tuned Dolby Atmos speakers, but that wasn't mentioned in the leak.

Under the hood, it's reportedly powered by an older Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset, which NanoReview says is significantly inferior to the MediaTek Helio G99. Of course, nothing is known about RAM and memory configurations, but for comparison: the predecessor offers 3 to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of memory.

The camera setup of the Redmi Pad 2 could also be slimmed down a bit as DCS states that it will have an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, the latter using the previous model's 8MP sensor. It can be powered by the same 8000mAh battery.

In case you don't know the original tablet, it has a 10.6-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of 90 Hz. This mid-range device is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 SoC and is powered by powered by an 8000mAh battery with 18W charging support.

Everything about the upcoming product is still a mystery, including the price. The original tablet is priced at RM899, but given that the Redmi Pad 2 has been able to achieve significant discounts, it will be interesting to see if the price drops. It is rumored to be released in Q3 2023 alongside the Redmi K60 Ultra.
