Former Steelers Linebacker Clark Haggans Dead At 46

Former Steelers quarterback Clark Hagons, a member of the team that won the Super Bowl XL title in 2005, has died aged 46, the Pittsburgh sports radio host announced Tuesday night.

Cause of death not reported.

Huggans played 13 seasons in the NFL, including eight with the Steelers from 2000 to 2007.

In the 2005 season, he had a career-high nine sacks and sacked Seattle's Matt Hasselbeck in the opening game of Super Bowl XL, the Steelers' 21–10 win.

Hagans went on to play for the Cardinals and 49ers, winning another Super Bowl in 2012 as part of the NFC Championship-winning San Francisco team.

He was distinguished at Colorado State University, where he was later inducted into the Hall of Fame program.

The Hagons were drafted by the Steelers in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, a year after teammate Joey Porter was drafted.

“I'm excited to finish it and go out there and see Joe with open arms. They should be playing a reunion song,” Haggan told Steelersnow.com in 2019.

On July 30, 2000, the quarterback called the NFL's preseason game against the Cowboys.

“I am very impressed with Troy Aikman. I used it for my Techno Bowl," says Haggan. "Randall Cunningham was on his team at the time, and when they got the ball, I didn't move. Everything happened so fast, I just stood there holding my hand. . "

Adults also have very large guidelines.

"Before the seniors my coach used to tell me: boy with the ball, take it and don't give him a goal. I would love it if we scored more points than the other team," said Hagans. unbalanced, big attacks, fouls and two minutes of fouls. It's just ball man madness."

In 2005, the Steelers became the first team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl as a six seed.

“Obviously winning the Super Bowl is a great memory,” the Hagons said in 2019. “Funnily enough, the first person I saw with confetti was Joey. We got a wig when we won the Holiday Bowl in Colorado, it's the biggest thing we've ever gotten. Here we go to win the Super Bowl. It's a scene."

He finished his career with 46.5 sacks and 520 tackles, including 370 solo tackles.

WXPI reports that Hagan is survived by two children, Damon and Aliana.
