Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite Gets New Security Update
Samsung has launched a new update for the Galaxy Note 10 Lite. It's not the latest May 2023 security patch, but the cheap old Note recently got the April patch. The device, which is now in its fourth year on the market, is different from the security solutions it introduced last month.
The April security rollout (SMR) for the Galaxy Note 10 Lite is currently available in select Latin American countries, including Mexico, Colombia, and Uruguay. According to SamMobile, which first reported the leak, the new update brings firmware version number N770FXXS9HWD1 to the device. Samsung is expected to expand the rollout to more markets in the coming days or weeks.
However, the Galaxy Note 10 Lite is now in its final year of support. Eligible for quarterly renewal only once every three months. Therefore, Samsung may not send April SMR to your device in some regions. Some versions may jump from one to the other. If you didn't receive last month's update on your Galaxy Note 10, you might get the May release in the coming weeks.
As of this writing, Samsung has not detailed the contents of the May patch, which it recently began rolling out to eligible Galaxy devices. However, we do know what April SMR will bring to the Galaxy Note 10 Lite. It contains fixes for more than 70 security vulnerabilities, at least five of which are critical. About 20 of these Galaxy-specific bugs affect different apps, services and system components. The remaining 50 fixes are related to flaws in the Android operating system and come from Google or related service providers.
Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note 10 Lite in early 2020. This device comes as a budget note phone for those who want the company's S Pen at a lower price. However, the Korean giant soon discontinued the Note series and bundled the S Pen with the more expensive Galaxy S model. The Galaxy Note 10 Lite isn't finally getting a successor.
However, Samsung has provided good support for the phone. It started with Android 10 and received updates up to Android 13. The Galaxy Note 10 Lite also recently got One UI 5.1. Unfortunately, this is the last major feature update for the phone. You won't get Android 14 or One UI 6.0. So far, this is only a security update for the Galaxy Note 10 Lite. It should arrive at least by January 2024.
