Samsung Brings A 2023 Update To Its M8 Smart Monitors

Samsung has launched its latest range of smart monitors, which includes the M8, M7 and M5 models.

The model numbers of each smart monitor are M80C, M70C, and M50C respectively. According to Samsung, the 2023 series will focus on increasing productivity, personal experience, and entertainment.

All three models will be available in 32-inch and 27-inch versions, but differ in resolution, brightness, and color options. The Samsung M8 will have a UHD resolution with 400 nits of brightness, in addition to colors warm white, daylight blue, sunset pink and spring green. Samsung M7 will have UHD resolution with 300 nits of brightness and warm white color. The Samsung M5 will have Full HD resolution with 250 nits of brightness and will be available in black or white color options.

Specifically, the Samsung M8 is the successor to the 32-inch Samsung M8 smart monitor that launched for $700. This model had flagship features like the Samsung Game Hub and the then-new Phone Link app.

Other display capabilities of the monitor include HDR 10+1 for the Samsung M8, while the M8 and M7 have 99% sRGB color gamut. All three displays have a flat screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Design-wise, the M8 and M7 are slim at 11.39 millimeters wide with a spruce pattern on the back. Both models have a detachable stand that can be rotated 90 degrees.

The monitors also have a multitasking feature that allows you to use multiple programs simultaneously in full screen mode without switching between different applications.

As for the cameras, the Samsung M8 has an attached SlimFit camera with FHD resolution that includes video conferencing features like auto frame and Google Meet support. For its part, the brand assured that both the Samsung M7 and the M5 have compatible cameras, without giving further details.

New features on the Samsung M8, M7 and M5 include "My Content", which enables peripherals to detect registered smartphones via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) in standby mode. The screen lights up and displays information such as photos, calendar, and weather, among other things. According to Samsung, the monitor returns to standby mode when the connected device is out of range.

As mentioned, the Smart Monitor 2023 series includes the Samsung Gaming Hub, which allows you to play games from popular streaming services like Prime Video, Netflix, and YouTube.

Like many Samsung products, the monitors support a built-in SmartThings Hub that you can control remotely using the SmartThings app on your smartphone. You can control smart home functions like turning off the lights and adjusting the thermostat. Additionally, M8 and M7 offer voice assistant support for Samsung Bixby and Amazon Alexa.

Thanks to Samsung's connectivity capabilities, the monitors can communicate wirelessly with third-party devices and peripherals such as iPhones, iPads and Macs, as well as mice and keyboards.

For input, the Samsung M8 and M7 have one HDMI 2.0 port, two USB-A ports, and one USB-C port (65W), while the Samsung M5 has two HDMI 1.4 ports and two USB-A ports. Connections: Each monitor also has two 5-watt speakers.

Samsung's 2023 line of smart monitors will be available at Samsung.com and select US retailers in June. The Samsung M8 will start at $650, the Samsung M7 at $550, and the Samsung M5 at $280.
