The Tecno Phantom V Fold redefines how much a folding book can be worth. I've been using the Phantom V Fold for a while and it doesn't feel cheap in my hand. When you hold it in your hand, you won't notice that it's almost half the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 4. When you open it and work with the phone, you will see the difference between Tecno foldables and phones. Samsung.
But this is possible only if you have used both phones. For those entering the foldable market and wanting a phone that folds more than a book, the Tecno Phantom V Fold is a great entry point. But not without its quirks.

For example, the Tecno phone has a larger 6.42-inch external display. It acts as a larger screen for interaction. It has an LTPO AMOLED panel that looks sharp and bright. Inside is a 7.85-inch 2K foldable display. Surprisingly, even if you run your fingers across the center of the screen, there are almost no creases. You can only see it from the side.

As for the hinge, "springy" would be the best word to describe it. There is no flex mode, it opens by itself when you turn the phone over. It's designed so there's no gap between the display when folded, which is always good for an indoor display. However, I felt hesitant as I pressed my stacked upper body into my lower body. The company says it has optimized 2,000 apps to take advantage of the Phantom V Fold's integrated display. The HiOS user interface allows you to perform various tasks in system applications. However, resizing the app takes more time. Multitasking is not as smooth as the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Also, some system apps have "AI" in their names for a reason: "AI Camera" and "AI Gallery" are some examples.

The new Tecno foldable is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It has a triple rear camera with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 2x zoom lens and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. There is a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the protective screen and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera on the foldable display. I haven't used the cameras long enough to say anything about the quality.
The Phantom V Fold is powered by a 5000mAh battery that supports 45W fast wireless charging. You don't have wireless charging support. According to the company, the V Fold can be charged up to 40 percent in 15 minutes and fully charged in 55 minutes, which I'll review in full.
