Techno music is a genre of music primarily known for its electronic beats and lyrics. Although there are all kinds of techno music today, my personal favorite is melodic techno. This type of music, as the name suggests, often includes "melody" notes and melodies that are very easy to identify and remember. Popular melodic techno music acts include Tales of Us, Biceps and Monolink.

Since I moved to Paris in August 2022 to Panthéon-Sorbonne Paris 1 for a year, I am looking for good clubs and techno festivals focused on melodic techno in my new city. In this article, I will introduce you to the most famous techno clubs in Paris and share my thoughts about them

1. Zenit Paris

In the green park of La Villette in the 19th arrondissement , the Zenith is a large concert hall that hosts several concerts each year. I went to this club to see one of my favorite melodic techno artists "Biceps". Although the concert hall seats about 700 people, it doesn't feel crowded or claustrophobic. The special effects used during the show were great and I had a lot of fun.

2. Carmen

This is one of the "proper" techno clubs I've been to. Located in the 9th arrondissement , close to the Moulin Rouge and generally on the "alternative" side of Paris compared to London's Soho. The club has two floors; One of them tops for "pure" techno music with no melody, which can be a bit repetitive at times. Instead, techno music plays below, an electronic and often melodic sound that varies by night and artist.

What I really like about this club is the interior design (see picture below). The main hall gives the impression of being at a famous palace club party. At the same time, the red light transforms the room into a cool "Tech Club Berlin" that might remind you of Berlin.

3. Mirage Paris

Last but not least, my personal favorite is the Mirage Paris, located next to the Arc de Triomphe near the Champs Elysees in the 8th arrondissement. This club is known for having good DJs playing from Thursday to Sunday. This means that they are usually surrounded by young people between the ages of 20 and 25, which is not only for clubs, but especially for DJs. This creates a great atmosphere in the club as everyone dances in front of the DJ and appreciates the "art" of their techno music.

The club itself has a lot of Japanese decor and uses red and blue lighting like Le Carmen. Unlike Le Carmen, however, Mirage Paris has a more intimate atmosphere as it can accommodate no more than 80-100 people. That's why every time I go to this club it feels more like a private concert than a great club experience.
