Richie Hawtin, known as a techno producer and DJ Plastikman, has created an electronic music scholarship for the University of Huddersfield.

Applications for the Richie Hawtin PhD Scholarship in Electronic Music, Culture and Production are now open and will be accepted until February 10. The doctoral program will start in September 2023 and will last three years continuously.

The successful candidate will be selected by the University in collaboration with Richie Hawtin, who will also award the scholarships. The university has maintained strong ties to Khotin since the British-Canadian artist received his PhD a decade ago. After receiving an honorary doctorate, he often worked with students in master classes and individual sessions, advising them on music.
