Samsung Might Be Working On A More Colorful Budget Phone And Were Here For It
A new series of leaked renders are said to show the upcoming Samsung device in a variety of vibrant colors. The leak is courtesy of The Tech Outlook (discovered by XDA-Developers ) and shows a Galaxy A34 with healthy midrange specs: 6.5-inch 1080p OLED display, 48MP main camera, and Exynos chipset. But the highlight is the choice of color: light green! Purple! Pearl! If these renders are accurate, we'll see a more colorful vision of budget phones in 2023, and that's about the time.
At some point in recent history, cell phone manufacturers decided that people in the United States, especially those on a tight budget, only wanted black phones. A quick look at Samsung's current A-series variants reveals that most models come in just one color: black. Or Black Horror , which sounds like black with a stupid name. If you upgrade to the S22 series or the Z Flip 4, you'll get even more color options like burgundy, purple, and any combination you can think of for a sophisticated device.
Apple and Google are doing a little better, but not by much. The iPhone SE 2022 is available in black, white, and red, while the Pixel 6A is available in black, white, and grey. Chuno is not happy. Other OEMs like Motorola and OnePlus are following the black phone and a different formula for flagships, but the smaller your budget, the less colorful it will be.
It's not that flashy budget phones don't exist, they just aren't offered in the US. Samsung India includes colors like copper, mint and peach in its budget range. OnePlus is offering the mid-range Nord phone in the UK in vibrant Bahamian Blue and Jade Haze colors. In the USA we get black, black and black with dark blue quantum as a gift.
The moon does not need a beautiful color, but black, right?
Why? Is this a cost-cutting measure to help bring down the prices of cheap phones? Are US carriers somehow forcing manufacturers to offer their most boring models here because carriers dictate everything in the US phone market? Are we satisfied that we just buy a black phone, plug it in and call every other day? I suspect there is some truth in all of the above.
Unfortunately, even if it's a real deal, this colorful variant of the Samsung A34 may not make it to our shores at all. They will be sold in other markets where phones come in stunning colors. I don't think it should be - I didn't ask the moon to have an interesting color other than black, did I? Either way, I hope there will be more colorful phones in 2023 at all price points, although I will probably see a cool new black phone on my desk.
