Talking With Techno DJ & Producer Matt Sassari About ‘Step To

Marcel, French DJ and producer Matt Sassari recently released his new EP Step To , which includes his original version of "Step To" and a remix of "Melody's Enemy."

Talking about the EP, Sasari shares: "It's so exciting to be back there A Light Records with their latest EP. This is for night warriors who love to rip it off on the dance floor. Now stop reading and start moving!"

Sasari's interpretation of "Step To" approaches the dark side of house music, hitting hard from the moment you hit the play button and set a menacing tone. Although Melody's Enemy doesn't take any prisoners in its performance, it completely transforms the original track into a fast-paced, adrenaline-pumping technical track.

Despite being relatively new to the scene, Sasari has released music on labels including Terminal M, Intec, Tronic, Relief, and Sci + Tec and amassed millions of streams on Spotify and over 3.6 million listeners per month.

CelebMix interviewed Matt Sassari to learn more about techno music, the difference between the French and American music scene and how their sound has evolved.

Hi Matt, thanks for your time and congratulations on the latest release. What inspired you to create the new Step To EP?

Hi CelebMix. Thanks for having me! I was mainly inspired by singing and bass.

Melody's Enemy is a very interesting option for a redistributor. What is the thought process behind the selection?

Yes, I love this remix of Melody's Enemy and we got the remix list from TIAL Records and I chose Melody's Enemy.

I have released a lot of records on TIAL. How did the poster draw you to them?

Yes, this is my 3rd edition of TIAL and I am very happy to work with them, they have a great team! I got to know the owner of the label The Archer Sian (Octopus) who gave me a label/project that I immediately loved!

What is the biggest difference between the American music scene and your home country?

In my opinion, the American music scene is much more open now than it is here in Europe. Now we can see a lot of big festivals/clubs/events in the US bringing new artists from house to techno and that's cool!

Some people say techno (or house music) is boring because it's so monotonous - how about that?

Because they haven't found the beat yet, haha, or they haven't listened to it well, you know. Or are they listening to the new Fast / Hard Techno at 150 bpm, which I agree is boring...

Did your voice develop naturally or did you intentionally push it in a certain direction?

I've evolved naturally since I started making music, I've always been between Techno/Tech-House and wouldn't push it in a particular direction, it's something I can't control when I'm producing.

Have you always been a fan of electronic music? Or are there other genres that you listen to regularly?

I have listened to electronic music since childhood but I listen to many different genres like rap, pop etc.

Who do you think is one of the most innovative gaming manufacturers today?

I'd say Fred Agin and Eliza Rose with this gorgeous BOTA piece.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be and why?

Less social to focus more on the music that's most important to me! The rest is just noise...

Can you share your biggest goal in life?

Haha, it lasts, but I say I can make a living from what I love to do, which is produce and touring all over the world to get my music out there.
