At first glance, the Redmi Pad looks expensive with a thin, slab-like design. Read our first impressions of the new card here.
Redmi launched a series of affordable tablets in India on October 5, 2022 in three configurations: 3GB RAM + 64GB storage, 4GB RAM + 128GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. Even though the handset was launched in the budget segment; Its sleek and slim design gives it a premium feel. It felt like an expensive tablet when I first got it. It is available at a starting price of ₹ 12,999 ( Release: ₹ 14,999 ), ₹ 14,999 ( ₹ 17,999 ) and ₹ 16,999 ( Release: ₹ 19,999 ) for 3GB RAM + 1GB storage, 6GB RAM + 64 GB of memory. RAM + 128 GB respectively. However, I didn't have much time to use it; Read our first impressions of the Redmi Pad here.
Redmi Pad: design, display and performance
The Redmi Pad comes with a metal body with flat rails around the edges and curved corners. It looks thin, but weighs about half a kilogram (465 grams to be exact). It comes in three color options: Graphite Grey, Mint Green and Moon Silver, and we have Mint Green. The design and appearance of the new Redmi Pad is very impressive.
On the front, it has a thick but smooth bezel around the edges, while on the back, it has a premium finish with a direct camera placement. The device has a 10.61-inch screen, neither too big nor too small. The 2K IPS LCD screen with 2000x1200p resolution and 90Hz refresh rate provides the best user experience when it comes to browsing the web and reading news or e-books. The power button is located at the top; It does not have a fingerprint sensor. But instead, it comes with a facial recognition feature.
The tablet has four speaker grills, but the tablet lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. But it doesn't seem to be offensive since I'm using TWS headphones. However, those using wired headphones will need a Type-C to 3.5mm converter.
The Redmi Pad delivers impressive performance as I browsed all my favorite content and read e-books with it. From color accuracy to favorable HDR results and HD content support for OTT apps like Prime Video and Netflix, the Redmi Pad seems to have set the bar in the budget segment. Moreover, the battery life of the 8000 mAh unit is more than a day and a half. On the software side, it runs MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box, and the company promises two years of Android updates and three years of security updates.
I have yet to explore the detailed features like camera features, gaming performance and other aspects of the Redmi Pad.
