Is The New Redmi 12 The Best Value For Money Phone Around?
Xiaomi has introduced the newest member of its Redmi line of phones - the Redmi 12. Redmi is Xiaomi's sub-brand (one of several sub-brands) that transforms previous innovations from Xiaomi's flagship devices into affordable models.
And since the key word here is "affordable", the Redmi 12 costs only 149 dollars, which is absolutely absurd when you look at the specification sheet, which, without thinking, is amazing for a device that costs less than twenty one. 100 percent more than the iPhone. There is a lot of competition for the best budget camera phone, and the Redmi 12 has taken its place.
The design of the Redmi 12 is a glass back compared to other models in the range and is just 8.17mm thick. Somehow, Xiaomi packs three cameras in this budget model, offering a large 50MP main camera as well as an 8MP wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro, the latter being interesting. The choice comes down to the telephoto lens, which we think comes down to cost.
The phone has some premium design features including IP53 rating for dust and splash resistance. The screen is the largest on a Redmi phone with a 6.79-inch FHD+ dot display with a resolution of 2460 x 1080 and a fast 90Hz refresh rate powered by Adaptive sync. The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging, which Xioami claims can deliver 23 days of standby time or 16 hours of video.
Finally, the phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G88 processor, which, while not a fast chip, should handle day-to-day tasks smoothly. The phone comes in Midnight Black, Sky Blue and Polar Silver colors with 4GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, though it can be expanded via a microSD card slot.
The Redmi 12 is set to launch globally, and this applies specifically to North America as well. The phone will be available for purchase from July 9 and will be priced at $149, which is around £120 or AU$220, although an official price was not available at the time of writing.
