Technoblade, Minecraft YouTuber Watched By Millions, Dead At 23
Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade has died at age 23 after a year-long battle with cancer, his family said Friday.
In a YouTube video titled "See You Later Nerds," the content creator's father shared his son's final message to his followers.
"Hello everyone, this is Technoblade," the message began. "I'm going to die when I see this."
In the video, Technoblade, who has kept his identity a secret, reveals that his real name is Alex. He thanked fans for supporting his content, buying merchandise and channel subscriptions, and joked that his brothers were "going to college."
“If I had a hundred more lives, I think every time it would be Technoblade, because those were the happiest years of my life. I hope you enjoyed my content and it gave you some laughs and I hope you all stay alive. "For a prosperous and happy life.
In a decade, Technoblade has amassed nearly 11 million YouTube subscribers and 3.7 million Twitter followers by sharing his passion for Minecraft, a video game where users can build block-based virtual worlds and create their own stories. : He announced his cancer diagnosis in August 2021, telling followers during a video of himself playing that he sought medical attention after experiencing arm pain that he initially thought was a repetitive strain injury from the stress of playing.
According to his father, Technoblade wrote his last message about eight hours before his death. Fighting back tears, Technoblade's father called his son "the most amazing son anyone could ask for": "I miss Technoblade!"
The video, which has been viewed more than 19 million times, ends with a statement from the Technoblade family: "And continues to test his famous strategic mind to conquer what he knew was almost impossible. Your son's bravery on this journey is ours. It was a brilliant lesson for all who had the opportunity to share it with him. Thank you for always sharing. Your journey. In a statement sent to CNN, the Sarcoma Foundation of America paid tribute to Technoblade and expressed its "deepest condolences" to his family.
Brandy Felser, the charity's executive director, said in a statement. "Technoblade has rallied its supporters to raise over $500,000 to date to support sarcoma research. This allows the SFA to issue research grants on Technoblade's behalf. Thanks to these efforts, he leaves. A legacy that will impact generations."
Felser said TechnoBlade will receive the organization's Courage Award, an annual award given later this year to inspire others to "create hope and a better life for the sarcoma community."
