Former Cradle Of Filth guitarist Stuart Anstis has died at the age of 48.

Stuart Anstis, the guitarist best known for his work in the British metal band Cradle Of Filth, has died. Metalsucks reports that Richard Shaw, another former Cradle Of Filth guitarist, announced Anstis' death on Instagram. The cause of death has not been reported. Anstis was 48 years old.

Anstis joined Cradle Of Filth in 1995, four years after the band's formation. During this time, Cradle Of Filth were still developing their style of symphonic and theatrical black metal. Anstis played with the band for four years, playing on the albums Dusk And Her Embrace and Cruelty And The Beast, before parting ways with the band in 1999. During Anstis' time with the band, Cradle Of Filth gained a lot of popularity, garnering attention even with gimmicks such as a "Jesus is a jerk" T-shirt.

After parting ways with Cradle Of Filth, Anstis formed Bastardsun, which disbanded after the death of singer David Wayne in a car accident in 2005. Antsis also made electronic music under the name Aphelion. Listen to Cradle Of Filth featuring Anstis below.
