Xiaomi To Launch Redmi A2 Series In India On May 19, Core Specifications Confirmed

Xiaomi announced today that the Redmi A2 series will launch in India on May 19. Like the Redmi A1, the Redmi A2 is also a potential entry-level device for entry-level smartphone users. The "string" alias refers to several variables. The Redmi A1 has a regular model and a Plus model, the latter of which has a fingerprint scanner.

A dedicated product listing page confirms that the design of the Redmi A2 should be fairly similar to that of the Redmi A1, with a textured leather back, dual cameras, and a teardrop-shaped display. Xiaomi says that the Redmi A2 is powered by an unknown octa-core processor and a 5,000mAh battery. It's running Android 13, most likely the Go edition.

Redmi A1 has been launched in India at Rs 6,499 for 2GB/32GB. Redmi A1 Plus was launched at 7,499 rupees for 2GB/32GB and 8,499 rupees for 3GB/32GB.

Talking about the specifications, the Redmi A1 has a 6.52-inch 720p display with a teardrop notch. According to Xiaomi, the screen is "scratch-resistant". The maximum value can reach 400 nits.

Under the hood is the MediaTek Helio A22 processor. Redmi A1 supports dual SIM. The main selling point of this entry-level phone is the "pure Android 12 experience". The same is expected from the Redmi A2. For photography, this phone has an 8MP main camera on the back and another 5MP camera on the front for selfies.

Rounding out the package is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W Micro USB charging.
