Chinese Tech Companies Are Exploiting US Green Energy Goals, Former State Department Officials Warn

However, Republican lawmakers and local leaders have come under intense scrutiny for Gosh's proposal, citing the Chinese monarchy and ties to the Chinese Communist Party. The corporate charter of Goshen Hi-Tech, the California subsidiary that supplied the Goshen, Michigan plant, calls for the company to "carry out party activities in accordance with the Constitution of the Chinese Communist Party."
Hoekstra and Sela argued that the Biden administration was not involved in key negotiations on the Gotion and CATL facilities, as well as other projects in the country involving China. CATL is in talks to supply technology to a Tesla factory in the US and announced in March that it would help build a battery storage facility in Texas.

"The Biden administration: There is no clear and coherent policy on how to respond and deal with China," Hoekstra told Fox News Digital.

Shortly after taking office, Biden set a goal of making half of the cars sold in the United States zero-emissions by 2030 as part of his ambitious climate plan, and made frequent visits to electric vehicle factories, including some in Michigan.
According to a Brookings Institution analysis released in July, China now accounts for 78 percent of the world's electric vehicle battery production capacity. The country controls most of the world's processing and mining capacity.
