Skyline Festival Brings Techno And House Music Together In Los Angeles
After its first event in February 2022 on Skylight Row in downtown Los Angeles, Insomniac Events Techno Festival and Skyline Techno Festival created a buzz in the dance festival circuits.
This year, the festival will move to its new home at the Los Angeles Fairgrounds from Saturday, February 25th to Sunday, February 26th. The event is organized by techno brand Insomniac Factory 93 and Music House Day Trip, who have teamed up to present the best shows in both genres. The lineup includes collections from Dom Dolla, Meduza, Eli & Fur, Peggy Gou, Michael Bibi, Anotr, and more, which will be released on February 25, and will be headlined by Diplo & Joshua, Charlotte De Wit, Joseph Capriati, and Stella Bossi. short. 26.
There were also several shows on both days, including Ellen Alien B2B Sarah Landry, J. Vora B2B Mian, Shiba San B2B Salardo, and Skream B2B Dennis Ferrer.
After selling out its first event last year with more than 7,000 fans in attendance, Insomniac took all the comments from fans, including attendees asking for more space to dance and enjoy the show. New digs at Exposition Park will provide plenty of additional space and bring the event closer to the city.
“We were looking for a downtown location that would fit the Skyline theme and we found Expo Park,” Megan Dechen, Insomniac's head of talent and festivals, said in a recent phone interview. "We went there with the team and fell in love with the space. The fact that there are trees and grass makes it more comfortable for everyone. Even the performance this year will be better because the hall is bigger. So we thought it was just a perfect setup."
For Deschen, being so close to the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles felt like "going back to [Insomniac's] roots," given that the company's famous EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) was held at the site from 2007 to 2010 before moving to Las Vegas. .
"It's kind of nostalgic for us," he said. "Being so close, it's great to be back."
The reimagined festival will feature West Side and East Side stages. The western side will focus on house music, while the eastern side will focus on techno music.
While Insomniac hosts more than a dozen festivals each year in Southern California and beyond, Skyline is a perfect fit for Insomniac's roster, with Day Trip and Factory 93 offering additional stages at big events like EDC and Hard Summer. According to Dischen, bridging the gap between house music and techno—two similar but different subgenres of electronic music—makes sense.
He added, "The audience in this community already likes to go to art events or house shows, so we decided to mix it up." “It fits the Insomnia family really well because Day Trip and Factory 93 did a lot of things. We wanted to present both genres in the same setting, so this is especially important to us because it feels more intimate, but at the same time it suits both the artist and the acting.”
Visitors can expect more on-site activities, art installations, food trucks, and bars throughout the event area. VIP area guests also have access to the elegant espresso martini bar.
"In the end, we were very pleased with the DJs playing and the fact that everyone came together with one goal: to have fun and enjoy the music," said Deschen.
