Tecno Eagle Eye Lens With Dual Prism Telephoto Lens Unveiled, Will Feature Automatic Object Tracking

The Eagle Eye Lens mobile solution allows users to record videos with a telephoto lens with better image quality.

Tecno recently unveiled its new Eagle Eye Lens camera technology for smartphones at a conference hosted by Counterpoint Research. This advanced technology is said to be the world's first periscope telephoto lens to use dual prisms for better image quality. Thanks to optical image stabilization (OIS) and artificial intelligence algorithms, this technology allows tracking and focusing on moving objects, according to the company. Tecno's new camera technology will appear on devices in 2023. Chinese brand Transition Holdings has also teased the arrival of the high-end Phantom X2 series smartphones. The upcoming model based on the 4nm MediaTek Dimension 9000 chip will be presented in Dubai in the first week of December.

During Counterpoint's webinar earlier this week, Jimmy Hsu, Associate Director of R&D at Techno Image, introduced the new Eagle Eye Lens technology, which is said to be the industry's first high-tilt capable dual prism periscope camera.

According to Tecno, OIS and object tracking are based on artificial intelligence. The company says the technology is capable of providing "true AI tracking shots" and "advanced optical image stabilization." The system allows the first prism to rotate 8-10 degrees and the other prisms to rotate 6 degrees.

"Another first is dual optical wide-angle image stabilization as the brand has further improved its sensor-shift stabilization technology," said Jimmy Hsu. This camera setting can make it easier to capture events such as car races or sporting events where people or objects are moving quickly. The Tecno 2023 smartphone will be equipped with this function.

Additionally, Techno recently announced plans to enter the high-end mobile market. He confirmed the launch of the Phantom X2 series on December 7th in Dubai. Tecno claims that the new phone will have a 4nm MediaTek Dimension 9000 SoC.

The Tecno Phantom X2 replaces last year's Tecno Phantom X which launched in India last May at a price of Rs. 25,999 for the 8GB + 256GB storage option. The smartphone is powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio G95 SoC and supports 33W fast charging.
